Laura Rankinís illustrations have appeared in six picture books, including The Handmade Alphabet, winner of the Boston Globe-Horn Book Honor Award for nonfiction, and Merl and Jasperís Supper Caper. Her personal wanderings have been concentrated in the Northeast, as she grew up in East Aurora, New York, studied speech and drama at the University of New Hampshire, and worked as an editorial artist at The Buffalo News. She now enjoys living by and exploring the Maine coast.
