Margot Zemach

Margot Zemach (1931-1989) was the beloved creator of more than fifty books for young people, including Duffy and the Devil, written by her husband, Harve, for which she won the Caldecott Medal. She brought to life stories by such great authors as Isaac Bashevis Singer and Lloyd Alexander, as well as many she had written herself. The characters in Eating Up Gladys first appeared in book form in To Hilda for Helping, though many would say they are closely patterned on her own family.
