Rafe Martin


As a bookseller, Rafe Martin received the first Lucille Micheels Pannell Award for "his unique creativity in bringing children and books together." As an author, he has won acclaim for such picture books as The Rough-Face GirlWill's Mammoth, and The Shark God. His first novel, The World Before This One, was published in Fall 2002. Rafe's interest in the Seneca grows out of his long residence in Rochester, New York, and his work at the Ganandagan Seneca historic site with Elder Peter Jemison.
